The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can only be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of these items, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's type. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes available for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers may utilize a level to measure the height of the building with an established location, such as a benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item upgrades will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This can be a good or a negative thing depending on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in different ways. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all or contain just one element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They also aid in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have lots of armor pieces or weapons.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific tools that are suitable for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to parity with the levels. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
