What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Some items come with built-in boos that is not effective when upgraded. For instance, the Goldwrap offers an additional potion slot. These are often upgraded to add more value to a close-to-perfect or perfect item upgrader mod.

Costs

There are some costs associated with item upgrades. The first is the upgrade itself. It can be costly and is dependent on the new level of the item upgrader mod as well as the number of perks it receives. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.

The second is the cost of the items needed to upgrade. A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version thereof can be used to increase the chances of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful if your weapon or piece is near or has reached the maximum level of its tier. It will let you upgrade that piece of equipment to the next level without risking it breaking.

If an upgrade fails it will be restored to its original condition. This is typically an error, but it can also be an upgrade. It is a good idea to save upgrades for when you're close to the maximum capacity of an item, and then use it as an emergency.
