How to Replace an audi a5 key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However, the code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they have different functions but the most effective method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this part, check for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a significant drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I assume that the problem is in another location.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. 3. Fuel Pump
