World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a sign of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the Best item upgrade level.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, as well as its ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory states that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines the value of an item's stats really are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This is not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste, or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by adding a name.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat in that range unless they are a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it must be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in early game runs because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
