Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Leveling
